Review: There are those cymbals that are held in high regard by their fans, almost to something of an iconic status. For those of us growing up in the 1980s when Hard Rock and Heavy Metal were at their zenith, this is one of those cymbals. With its unlathed surface, machine hammering, 5.5" / 14cm bell, and extra EXTRA heavy weight, this one is a pingy monster that takes no prisoners. The weight (mine is 6400g, although it could be a bit more, but my main scale stops there, and my other scale works in increments of 100g) is tremendously heavy! To put it into perspective, my Paiste RUDE 24" Mega Power Ride weighs 1700g / 3.7g lbs LESS, and I used to think rides couldn't get any heavier than that. Hitting the bell with a stick produces a piercing sound that will surely cut through loud guitars with ease. And let's not forget the most important thing, the terrific stick definition. Using a wood tipped Vater 5A, the ping was warm and extremely well defined.
